un-teaching

We’ve had an incredible time in Alberta for the past few days. I’m pretty worn out, but it’s really been worth it. Don’t cry for me too hard, I’ll be setting sail on a cruise ship out of Miami on Friday. I don’t have a lot of time, but I wanted to share a note that I received from a man today. I’ve been speaking through the weekend and this came near the end of the three day event. This is really the kind of thing that makes all the growing pains worth it.

Dear Craig,

Thank you for challenging me to ask the simple yet profound question… “why?”

I have come to realize that a lot of what I have believed, I have done so blindly and not applied my heart to understand.

So…wow! It’s a bit painful and humbling to realize how little I understand, yet exciting at the same time. Thank you for being used to help free my mind.

While I enjoy any response to what we do, when someone really gets it, it does something inside me. It gives me a kind of fuel to do what I do. We all need that.

Recently someone else told me, “Craig, thanks for not so much teaching us, but un-teaching us.” I loved that.

Enjoy your inspiration for the day. I was shown this video tonight by some of the leadership at the church I’m at. I was rolling on the floor. It wasn’t until I looked it up for myself, in order to post it here, that I realized that the video actually came from Student Life, the student ministry that my brother is part of. Top notch work.
